Megatransect and Megaflyover

Dr. Michael Fay is a world-renowned conservationist with the Wildlife Conservation Society.  In 2001, he finished a 2,000 mile walk through Central Africa's forests to survey trees, wildlife, and human impact on uninhabited forest areas.  This trek took 15 months and was called the "Megatransect."  Fay and his team took pictures and detailed notes of what they saw and learned on their trip through the dense forests and remote villages.

In June 2004, Fay returned to Africa to begin his "MegaFlyover."  In this yearlong survey across much of the African continent, he will trace the levels of human influence over Africa's key eco-regions and begin to develop long-term conservation strategies.  The "MegaFlyover" will explore places home to African wildlife where there is some of the least human disturbance.
